Your profile card is how recruiters first see you: in search results, in the marketplace and in their bookmarks. It is built from your profile settings and links through to your full profile. This article covers what appears on the card and how to fill out the profile behind it.
What the card shows
- Your photo, with your search status on its edge
- Your first profession as a tag on the photo
- Your Headline, with your name underneath
- Your remote preference, availability and reply rate
- Your location
- Your first four skills, with a count of any extras
Recruiters from companies you have added under Hidden companies can't see your card at all.
Editing the card
- Open the menu under your avatar and choose Settings, then Profile.
- Update your photo and Headline in the profile details section, then click Update.
- Choose your Titles and Skills. Titles appear on the card as your professions. Drag skills to change their order, since only the first four show on the card.
- Set your search status, remote preference and availability under Work preferences.
- Click Update to save each section.
Social links, your scheduling link, projects, certifications and testimonials appear on your full profile, which a recruiter opens from the card.
Projects
Projects show on your full profile, under the Projects tab.
- On your profile, open Projects and click Create Project.
- Add a title, short description, skills, stage of build and links. You can upload a Featured Asset (PNG, JPG, GIF or MP4) and up to five Gallery Images.
- Turn on Visible to public if others should see it. With it off, only you can see the project.
- Add Collaborators by searching for their Katara username. They are credited on the project, but only you can edit it.
Use Manage projects to drag your projects into order. Click Feature on one project to pin it as your Featured project. Only one project can be featured at a time.
Certifications
- On your profile, click Add certificate, or Add next to Certifications.
- Fill in Certification, Issuing organisation and Issued on. Add Expires on, Credential ID and Credential URL if you have them.
- Click Save.
Certifications past their expiry date are marked Expired.
Testimonials
Testimonials are written by other engineers on Katara. You can't write your own.
When someone opens your profile, they click Write a testimonial, choose how they know you, optionally pick a project you both worked on, and click Send for review. You get a notification. Open it to reach Testimonials about you, where each new testimonial shows Awaiting your review:
- Publish shows it on your profile.
- Hide takes a published testimonial off your profile.
- Remove deletes it.
Only published testimonials appear on your profile.
