Seeing who viewed your profile

Find out which recruiters opened your profile, and what the numbers on your dashboard mean.

Katara records a view each time a recruiter opens your profile. You can see who looked, how recently and how often, along with a few other numbers that show how hiring teams are responding to you.

Opening the list

You can reach the list in two ways:

  • On your dashboard, click the number under Who viewed your profile.
  • On your own profile, click See who viewed you.

The page is called Who viewed your profile and lists recruiters who opened your profile, most recent first. The badge at the top shows your total, for example 12 views. Until someone looks, you see "Nobody has viewed your profile yet."

What each row tells you

Each row is one recruiter. How much you see depends on whether you have talked to them:

  • If you have a conversation with the recruiter, you see their name, photo, job title and company, for example "Sam from Acme". Clicking the row opens your conversation.
  • If you haven't spoken yet, you see their company instead, for example "Someone from Acme". Clicking the row opens that company's page on Katara, if it has one.
  • If Katara can't link the view to a company, the row says "A recruiter".

On the right of each row you see when they last looked: Today, Yesterday, This week, This month or Earlier. If they came back more than once, you also see A few times or Several times.

Views are only recorded when a signed-in recruiter opens your profile. Other engineers looking at your profile don't count.

Your dashboard numbers

Your dashboard shows four tiles near the top.

TileWhat it counts
Who viewed your profileTotal recruiter views of your profile. Click it to open the full list.
Chats with RecruitersConversations you have with recruiters.
Shortlisted byHow many different hiring teams have added you to one of their shortlists.
Reply rateThe share of recruiter messages you answered.

Trends

Chats with Recruiters and Shortlisted by can show a coloured percentage with "from last period" beside it. This compares the last 30 days with the 30 days before. Green with an up arrow means more than before, red with a down arrow means fewer. If there was nothing in the earlier period, no trend is shown.

Reply rate

Under Reply rate you see the hint "Of recruiter messages you answered". Katara looks at conversations a recruiter started with you in the last 90 days and counts how many you replied to. If no recruiter has messaged you in that time, the tile shows a dash.

Recruiters can see your reply rate too. It appears on your profile and in their conversations as "Responds to 80% of messages", for example, and they can filter search by it. Replying to messages, even with a polite no, keeps your rate high.

Making views count

If you see views but no messages, check Profile strength on your dashboard. Katara suggests what to add next, such as a headline, social links or more detail in your bio. A complete profile gives recruiters more reason to get in touch.
