Getting your company verified

Request verification for yourself and your team, and understand what each verification status means.

Engineers on Katara can see whether the people contacting them are genuine. Katara verifies two things separately: you as a recruiter, and the team (company) you hire for. You request each one, and the Katara team reviews it.

Verify yourself as a recruiter

Before you start, make sure your recruiter account has a work email. A request without one is rejected. See Setting up a recruiter account.

  1. Go to your dashboard, or open your recruiter profile.
  2. Click Request Verification.

The button disappears once your request is sent, so you can't send a second one while it's waiting.

Recruiter verification statuses

Your dashboard shows your status under Account status, and next to your name.

StatusWhat it means
Pending VerificationYou're not verified yet and haven't sent a request. Click Request Verification to start.
Verification PendingYou've sent a request and the Katara team is reviewing it.
Verified RecruiterKatara has verified you. A verified badge appears next to your name.

The first two labels look alike. Pending Verification means you still need to act. Verification Pending means you're waiting on Katara.

Verify your team

Only the team owner can request verification for a team.

  1. Open your team's page.
  2. Click the More team actions menu.
  3. Click Request Verification.

The option only appears while the team is unverified and no request is waiting.

Team verification statuses

Your team's page shows one of these under the team name:

StatusWhat it means
Not verifiedNo request has been sent, or verification was removed.
Verification pendingThe owner has sent a request and the Katara team is reviewing it.
Verified CompanyKatara has verified the company. A verified badge appears on the team.

Requests and changes to your team's verification are recorded in your team's audit log.

What the verified badges mean to candidates

When you message an engineer, they see whether you and your company are verified. If something isn't verified, they see a caution label instead of a badge:

  • Unverified recruiter when Katara hasn't verified you.
  • Unverified company when you're verified but your team isn't.
  • No company listed when you're verified but don't belong to a team.

The label disappears once both you and your team are verified.

What else verification unlocks

  • Single sign-on. Only verified teams can set up single sign-on. The team owner requests verification from the team page first.
  • Work email checks. On a verified team with a verified single sign-on domain, members whose sign-in email matches their work email on that domain have their work email verified for them.
  • Default team. If you belong to several teams and haven't picked one, Katara opens a verified team first.
