A recruiter account is how you search engineers, message them and hire with your team. Setup has two steps: your details, then a check that you own your work email.
Create your recruiter account
After you sign up, Katara asks how you want to use it. Pick I'm hiring.
- On the Your details step, enter your First name, Last name, Work Email and Job Title. Candidates see these when you reach out.
- Click Continue.
Your work email must be on your company's domain. Personal addresses such as Gmail, Outlook, iCloud or Proton Mail are rejected. Each work email can only belong to one recruiter account.
Verify your work email
Katara sends a 6-digit code to your work email as soon as you continue.
- Open the email and copy the code.
- On the Work email step, enter it in Verification code.
- Click Verify.
Once verified, Katara takes you to your dashboard.
A few things to know about the code:
- It expires after 15 minutes.
- After five wrong attempts, you need a new code.
- To get a new code, click Resend code. The button counts down before you can use it again.
You can click Skip and verify later. Until you do, you can't message developers or create a team.
Why you need a work email
A verified work email is how Katara links you to a real company. Without one:
- You can browse profiles, but you can't message candidates.
- You can't create a team.
- You can't manage team members.
If your account has no work email, your dashboard shows Add a work email to message talent. Messaging also needs an active subscription, either your own or your team's. See Understanding your subscription.
Add or change your work email later
- On your dashboard, click Add work email. You can also open your recruiter profile settings directly.
- Enter your address in Work Email and click Update.
- Enter the 6-digit code from your inbox and click Verify.
When your email is verified, a Verified label appears next to it. If you change your work email later, you need to verify the new address again.
If you joined a verified team that has set up single sign-on for its domain, your work email may be verified for you. This happens when your sign-in email matches your work email on that domain.
What to do next
- Create a team from Your Teams with Create Team, then fill in your company details, address and contact links.
- Ask Katara to verify you and your company so candidates know you're genuine.
